DailyDAC Market Summary 4/5/26

DailyDAC Market Summary for Seven Day Period Ending April 5, 2026

Market Watch: Week of March 31 – April 5, 2026

DailyDAC’s Sentiment Score: 3.6/10 The tone this week felt mixed-to-stressed. On the one hand, opportunistic capital is still available: Ares just raised nearly $10 billion for a special-opportunities private-credit strategy, which tells you dry powder remains real. On the other hand, the pressure points are getting harder to ignore. Blue Owl faced $5.4 billion of withdrawal requests across two major private-credit funds, Barron’s reported rising financing costs for public BDC debt, and both Saks Global and New Fortress Energy spent the week advancing restructuring frameworks rather than ordinary refinancing stories.

The secondary tape remains selective but skittish. Stressed paper is trading with a visible risk premium for near-term refi names, and the $1.2 trillion leveraged debt maturity wall– roughly $580 billion in loans and $625 billion in high-yield bonds coming due between 2027 and 2029–casts a long shadow. Interest coverage on the leveraged loan index sits around 4.6x, well under 2022’s 6x, which means even modest rate surprises hit harder. The Maxeda recapitalization this week (notes extended from 2026 to 2031 with a significant haircut) is a textbook extend-and-equitize, and the Saks Global RSA ($500 million in exit financing from bondholders who apparently believe luxury retail still has legs) suggests the bid is there when the story is credible. But the Geddo/Farmer Boys filing and the FAT Brands governance meltdown remind us that not every story is.
